I, like you it seems, think that a chinchilla should probably be on the chubby side, seeing as the animal is not on the slender side.
The pose was done quite well, and the anatomy looks very sound. The only critique I can offer is to possibly look at resizing the feet. Personally, I feel that they are a bit small for the character, and it does look as though the sizes of each foot are a bit different from each other.
THANK YOU FOR COLOURING YOUR PICTURE :3 It's great that you took the time to do so, and though you may not realize it, colouring with lighting/shading really does help one grasp the ins and outs of anatomy.
